Tim Trostel Racing was back in action for the second time this season on a very hot afternoon at Colorado National Speedway. We had not raced in a month and half due to our race on May 21st getting snowed out.
Practice/Qualifying:
In the first practice we were fastest and decided to forgo the remaining 2 practices to prepare for qualifying. We posted the 2nd fastest time in qualifying with a time of 16.021 just a tenth and a half off of QuickTime Darren Robertson.
Qualifying Run:
Fast Dash:
We made the 15 lap fast dash and started in 2nd, however we were struggling as the car was very loose causing us to lose 2nd and barely hang on to finish in 3rd place.
Final Laps of Fast Dash:
40 Lap Feature
The final event of the night was the 40 lap feature. We ended up drawing the #4 pill during the redraw meaning we started 4th in the feature. On the initial start we were able to grab 3rd with first and second 10 car lengths ahead. On lap 18 the caution came out allowing us to close back in on 1st and 2nd. On the restart we were stuck on the outside and dropped back to 4th. The caution came back out on lap 23 allowing us to have another restart. On the lap 23 restart we were able retake back 3rd place. With 10 laps to go the leader #75 had an issue down the backstretch allowing us to get by and take over second, 10 car lengths behind the leader. The rest of the race ran green and we didn’t have quite enough to get by the leader and ended up finishing in 2nd. This is a good momentum builder for us as we head into the summer stretch of races coming up.
